Writing
I write because I need to. It's a pressure release for the the mounting feels that live inside of me. I have supplemental emotional relief in reading, gabbing with friends, spending time outdoors, and exercise, but they are only supplemental. There is no replacement for writing for me.
My default setting is open and authentic, which may sound wonderful, but that opens you up to the potential for hurt when you share your deep hopes, desires, and wounds. It also makes it difficult for me to be in relationship with anyone who does not also have this bent. I can't do superficial, "everything is perfect," convos. Now, silly, absurd repartee? Yes, please! I'm ok being the first one to cannonball into the deep end of the pool with the hope that I'll show others the water is fine.
I hope my writing does the same. I hope my words resonate with the tune of your heart so that you know you are not alone. We are all in this messy and complicated place together void of easy answers, but abundant in kinship and lovely moments.
