Road trips

Every other summer as a child my parents, two brothers and I would hop in the Ford Taurus wagon and drive 10+ hours from New Jersey to Ohio to visit family. There were no portable DVD players, no portable gaming devices (game boy came into the picture at some point), just our flipping thoughts, fighting with one another because "his arm is touching mine!", and the occasional invisible ink activity book. Kids, you don't know the struggle. We would play your traditional car games, be quizzed me our parents on "who sings this classic rock song?" Side note- this has contributed to me having the musical tastes of a 65 year-old. Once we got to Ohio, we stretched out, played with cousins, laughed, ate and swam. Nothing glamorous, but sweet time together with family.

What trips did you do as a child? Are these fond memories? What are some highlights? If you have a family of your own now, how are your trips similar or different?
